TH43AH0: A novelty at Tucson 2018. Very sharp and aerial cubo-octahedral crystal, complete and on matrix, with Mica. It has two small contacts on the left side, recrystallized by the Carrollite itself. The sample is from a recent find of samples of a great quality.
The specimen has been reviewed, photographed and published as a new discovery in the magazine ‘Mineral Up’ on page 44 of the 2018/01 edition.

TC47AN1: Complete cubo-octahedral floater crystal of Carrollite, sharp, with octahedral faces predominating, very lustrous and with well defined crystal forms. To highlight a rare characteristic in the Carrollites of this deposit, the crystal is a complete floater with all its faces well developed except at the base of the crystal which exhibits polycrystalline growths and remains of contact with the matrix and leafy Pyrophyllite crystals.

Group of very sharp Cuprite crystals, one of them clearly dominant, with crystal forms of the octahedron and, to a lesser extent, of the cube. With finely polycrystalline striations, translucent, with an intense red color by transmitted light, on matrix partially covered by Chrysocolla, which in turn is covered by Malachite microcrystals.

DM49AC8: Aggregate of very well defined Dioptase crystals. They are aerial, translucent, and bright. They have a very deep color and are on a rocky matrix partially coated by fibrous Plancheite aggregates. The crystals have a better luster and color than usual for the locality.

TB87AH0: A novelty at Tucson 2018. A group of Fluorite crystal cubes between translucent and transparent, with white inclusions, a very deep green color and marine-blue dichroism, clearly visible in sunlight. The locality is totally new and, even though Madagascar is a well-known mineralogical paradise, there were no more references to Fluorite occurrences other than the small crystals included in Quartz from Mandronarivo.

TY87AM0: Group on matrix of large cubic crystals of Fluorite, translucent, with a very deep green color and slightly bicolor navy blue. This locality was little known until 2018 and, despite being very prolific, it has produced very few pieces of this quality and this size of crystal.

TQ94Q0: A novelty at Tucson 2010. Druse on matrix of crystals very rich of faces, with the dominant forms of the dodecahedron and the trapezohedron and brown color, slightly greenish. Their luster is extraordinary and they are with small white concretions of Stilbite. The Topazolite variety has been well defined on this kind of samples and this will be reflected in a future article in The Mineralogical Record.

Sometimes misidentified as Xenotime, analysis confirms it to be Zircon.

MF51AK7: New in Munich 2019: Groups of doubly terminated Eudidymite crystals, with good terminations and very marked parallel growths. They are translucent, colored white, and are implanted in a group of doubly terminated Aegirine crystals with small smoky Quartz crystals. Eudidymite is a species that rarely occurs in sharp and well-terminated crystals and that is why the specimens from this find are so exceptional. Olmiite

From the great Olmiite finds made in N'Chwaning Mine we offer this further material. The quality is, as you can see, much better than the Poldervaartites found in the Wessels Mine. Notably the color is much more intense and redder. On the subject of the color it is necessary to warn you that some of these new Olmiites show an intense color change depending of the kind of light used: in day light they become yellowish but in artificial light they are a spectacular strawberry red color.

Bultfonteinite

Bultfonteinite is a rare phyllosilicate (calcium fluorsilicate) that exists in the N'Chwaning mine along with another rare phyllosilicate (also calcium), Oyelite. In fact, while awaiting the analysis of these specimens we had indicated on the web site that they were Oyelite, as previous finds from the same mine with the same appearance and white color had always been considered Oyelite. So when we got the results of the analysis, much to our surprise, the fluor present in the sample as well as the atomic ratio of Ca/Si=1:2 indicates that the specimens are Bultfonteinite and not Oyelite.

TR73AJ3: Groups of Malachite crystals (after octahedral Cuprite), coated by a late phase of Malachite microcrystals. They are on a Calcite matrix. Pseudomorphs of Malachite after Cuprite are very uncommon at Tsumeb, and even more so with such large crystals.

MR87AM7: Group of rhombohedral Smithsonite crystals with slight curvatures on the faces and edges, translucent, with good luster and a clear pink color. Some of them are of considerable size for the locality. An excellent Tsumeb classic, of unusual size and quality.

TFB48AN9: Druse of small rhombohedral Smithsonite crystals that are very sharp, lustrous, and have a reddish color that is quite rare for Tsumeb specimens.

TP50AH6: Druse of Smithsonite crystals on matrix. They have the dominant form of a rhombohedron, with very well defined faces and edges and a soft orange color due to the presence of cadmium. This cadmian Smithsonite variety is surely the rarest found at Tsumeb.

TK50V9: Aggregate of tabular crystals very rich in infrequent crystalline forms. Their color is between yellow and orange; they are bright, between translucent and transparent and have a considerable size for the locality. Although the crystals could appear damaged, they are complete, as the 3D version of the image we offer shows.

DESMOND SACCO COLLECTION

Desmond Sacco is an authority on African as well as worldwide minerals. I met him many years ago at the Munich Show when it was still in the center of Munich and Desmond was one of the stars of the show, buying the best that appeared. His collection was legendary, not only because of the wonders we knew he would certainly have acquired given his position in the mines of the Kalahari Manganese Field (Hotazel, Wessels, N'Chwaning...) and his proximity to the legendary Tsumeb, but also because we saw what he was buying, and thus got an idea of the quality of his collection.

Many years and many mineral Munich shows have now passed and Desmond Sacco has decided to sell some specimens from his collection. We have been fortunate to acquire an important part of this material and with these we can make a virtual trip to the mines and minerals guided by Desmond and his collecting criteria. TF50AC2: Small crystals, very bright, formed by the prism and acute rhombohedral terminations. They selectively occupy the surfaces of some of the faces of the white Calcite rhombohedrons on the matrix.

MX16W1: Group of translucent and very bright crystals that combine the forms of a quite flattened rhombohedron and a very short prism. This combination creates an unexpected and curious shape, quite similar to a pyritohedron. The sample is from the Desmond Sacco collection, whose label we'll send to the buyer.
