Color burst in blue at its finest! Crystals of a monumental Fluorite with the best possible blue for the La Viesca mine.
This is a very special piece for several reasons, both for me and for Jordi. It is the last specimen that will be for sale on the Fabre Minerals website and it is an honor to be able to describe it, although unlike all the others published so far, its description cannot be merely systematic. I was lucky enough to accompany Jordi on a trip through Asturias in which he was able to obtain this specimen, a large Asturian Fluorite, one of our greatest weaknesses and, I believe, a weakness of many collectors.
During the time that I have been collaborating with Jordi, this page has been offering minerals with a restrained price, always seeking a balance to make all types of specimens more accessible and thus contribute to their dissemination. A farewell like this certainly deserves a splendid mineral to end it.

19CDX59: Dendritic aggregate formed by deformed Copper crystals and small remnants of Quartz crystals. From the Ojibway mine in Keweenaw County, which was active between 1907 and 1913.
The specimen comes from the former collection (duplicates) of Carles Curto (number 1985.67), whose label we will send to the buyer.

9JR16: Topaz crystals, one of them clearly dominant, doubly terminated, of excellent luster and very transparent, with remnants of rhyolitic rock matrix. The smallest crystals are very rich in crystal faces as can be seen in the close-up photo.
The piece is repaired on the left side of the main crystal, being a fracture perpendicular to the axis of the prism, but it does'nt affect to the beauty of the specimen as a whole.
The sample is from the James Catmur collection (number B667) whose label we’ll send to the buyer.

20MJX66: Group of Adamite crystals in a fan shape around the perimeter of the piece, with well defined faces and sharp terminations, translucent and lustrous with a yellowish color, while the crystals in the center of the piece are more greenish, with very sharp bipyramids, all this on a limonitic matrix.
Adamite is a secondary mineral found in zinc deposits that also contain arsenic minerals.

11EN13: With a presentation different from that of other more common Mexican Mimetites, this one forms spheroidal aggregates, on a Goethite matrix, of crystals with a very acute pyramidal habit, with good terminations, with a bright luster and an intense yellow-orange color, highlighting the color contrast with the darker limonitic matrix.

11TE08: Group of Edingtonite crystals, a mineral of the Zeolite Group, with well-defined faces and edges and complete and translucent crystal terminations. The area where this piece comes from covers 29 km2, most of it within natural parks. The Edingtonite specimens from this locality are recognized worldwide for their significance.

23TJX14: Group of cubo-octahedral Galena crystals with metallic luster, one of them clearly dominant and implanted in a matrix formed by Sphalerite and small aggregates of Calcite.
The specimen comes from the La Unión-Cartagena mining district, a classic for mining in Murcia.
The specimen has been sawn on the back to remove excess matrix.

21TFL26: On a matrix formed of sharp Dolomite crystals with a whitish, slightly cream, color dotted with several crystals of Chalcopyrite with well-defined faces and edges and practically covered by a thin layer of millimeter-size Malachite crystals that give it a deep greenish tone, creating a nice color contrast with the matrix.
From a classic locality for Spanish mineralogy, Eugi, nearly extinct and undergoing reclamation.

21NBX36: Crystalline mass of quartz with an open vug carpeted by Quartz and Fluorite crystals, where elongated individual crystals of translucent Azurite stand out with a very vivid and deep color, most of them doubly terminated, offering a beautiful color contrast with the matrix. From the Llamas Quarry, where Azurite was already known but not with this quality.

The specimen comes from the quarries of Monte Xiabre in Galicia, and was found in 2015.

18NBM66: Lamellar, deformed crystals of Wulfenite (variety chillagite) with a light cream color, on matrix, with crystalline Baryte and Cerussite. A historical classic of Spanish mineralogy with the peculiarity of the Cerussite, which is uncommon in this deposit and not usually associated with chillagite.

17NRM16: Fan-shaped aggregates of bright, light green Prehnite crystals forming globular groups implanted on an ophitic rock matrix. From a classic Spanish mineral deposit very close to the well-known sulphur mines of Conil de la Frontera, in Cádiz, where ophitic bodies outcrop between Triassic sedimentary rocks, specifically in the Keuper facies. A specimen difficult to find nowadays on the commercial mineral circuit.

3N03: The most notable thing about these crystals is the way the rhombohedral faces of the termination
are much larger than the prism faces. The color is intense and displays unevenly distributed zoning. The
back side has re-crystallized.

21DPX61: Fine leafy aggregates of translucent Baryte crystals with a pale yellowish tone on a crystalline Quartz matrix. The Baryte crystals are perfectly sharp and much more transparent than most specimens from this classic deposit which closed in 1979 and is flooded today, so it is not easy to obtain quality specimens anymore.

21DLX14: Group of Quartz crystals (smoky variety), two of them clearly dominant and interpenetrated, one of them with polycrystalline growths and with the peculiarity of being partially covered by a second generation of Quartz. With traces of Microcline and some contacts in the upper part of the specimen that do not affect the beauty of the whole, one more curiosity obtained by Lluís Daunis from whom the specimen comes and whose handwritten label we will send to the buyer.

16NMB56: Polished section, on each faces, translucent with banded growth patterns and intensely colored nuclei. The specimen preserves on some of the edges part of its original matrix, which contrasts with the deep color of the Calcite. A classic of Catalan mineralogy.

8EQ89V2: Group of three large translucent crystals with split growths showing smaller crystals, a lot of them doubly terminated, transparent, very bright and practically colorless. The locality, a great European classic, hasn’t supplied collector’s specimens since long ago. The Banská Štiavnica ore district is in the central Slovakia zone of Neogene Volcanic Field.

6TP58L7: Large lenticular Calcite crystal, partially dissolved, covered and replaced almost entirely by Quartz crystals (variety amethyst), with dark inclusions of probably Hematite, on the edges of the Calcite. Different.

8TA90V1: Aggregate on matrix of Chrysocolla pseudomorphs after small crystals of Boleite and also forming concretions and botryoidal growths. This rare pseudomorph was discovered a few years ago in an area near Amelia (not in the mine itself), but until the end of 2010 new samples had not been recovered.

5FT86: Two generations of Calcite. The first generation is stalactitic Calcite, while in the second generation the Calcite takes the more classic crystalline form for the locality. Crystals of both generations have good luster, and both appear partially colored by brown iron oxides. A very decorative piece originating in the Cretaceous carbonate strata of the Sierra de Santa Eulalia.

5TD76M9: Cascading globular growths and well individualized crystals, of yellow color and intense brilliance, that contrast with the ocher limonite matrix. Adamite is a secondary mineral found in zinc deposits that also contain arsenic minerals.
