Distinct groups of Veszelyite crystals on matrix, aggregated in sheaf-like habits, each with preferred and parallel orientations, elongated and very sharp, with well defined crystal forms and an intense and uniform color, standing out on a thin crystalline layer of very pale blue Theisite coating the rock matrix, which gives a beautiful color contrast with the Veszelyite crystals. From a Chinese locality, Sanguozhuang, where lead and zinc are extracted, and which is the type locality for 5 new mineral species.

I have never before offered Vivianites on my web site. This is because I have always worried that its sensitivity to light and humidity might mean that as time passes a client might have problems with the specimen. In this case I have chosen to add it as both the matrix it sits on, with is absence of sulfides, and the formation where they are found mean that it is very likely to be stable for years to some.
So now that I have added these warnings, I will just point out the perfection, size, and transparency of this one, as well as the fact that it is on matrix. All these factors mean that it would compete with the best examples of this species. A top quality specimen.

Small rosette aggregate of Volborthite crystals with a deep olive-green color, on matrix with small whitish Dickite remnants and with small fibrous Malachite crystals with a lighter green color in the center of the piece. These Volborthites were the great sensation at Tucson and Sainte Marie in 2015, despite the fact that the number of specimens found was quite limited. Currently the mine from which this specimen comes is closed.
