A novelty at Tucson 2020. Group of doubly terminated Tremolite crystals, one of them clearly dominant and doubly terminated, with sharp faces and edges. The crystals, partially covered with small white Dolomite rhombohedra, have an intense luster between vitreous and silky, are much more transparent than usual in specimens from this area and are green-gray in color with bluish tints. From a very recent find, the quality is superior to that generally known in the St. Lawrence County area.
The specimen has been reviewed, photographed and published as a novelty from Tucson 2020 in the Russian magazine ‘Mineral Observer’ on page 62 in the volume 25, number 2

A novelty at Tucson 2020. Doubly terminated floater Tremolite crystal, with very well defined faces and edges and with two different but sharp terminations, one with rough faces and the opposite end polycrystalline. The crystal, with small coatings of white Dolomite, is of unusually large size, with an intense luster between vitreous and silky, and much more transparent than usual in specimens from this area. Green-gray in color with bluish tints. From a very recent find, the quality is superior to that generally known in the St. Lawrence County area.

A novelty at Tucson 2020. Elongated Tremolite crystals, one of them clearly dominant, on a Dolomite matrix, with marked scepter growth. They have very well defined faces and edges, good terminal faces and an intense luster between crystalline and silky. It exhibits greater transparency than usual in specimens from this area and a beautiful gray-green color with bluish tints. From a recent find, the quality is also far superior to what is generally known from the St. Lawrence County area. The crystal was reinforced, already at origin, in two spots on the prism to avoid its possible separation.

Tricolor Elbaite.
TNY6: Tricolor Elbaite
As you can see in the photo the color varies between red-yellow-green. The dominant color is a greenish yellow color and the crystal is totally gemmy. The crystal is not complete at the bottom but its tip is perfect.

As you can see in the photo the color varies between red-yellow-green. The dominant color is a greenish yellow color and the crystal is totally gemmy. The crystal is not complete at the bottom but its tip is perfect.

The crystal is formed by the six faces of the hexagonal prism and a very acute terminal pyramid. The color shows gradual changes, from the yellow at the base to reddish on the termination, passing through slight orange in the central zone.

The locality is well known for Variscite but occasionally some samples of Turquoise had been found there. On the specimen are two microcrystalline concretions of Turquoise on a Wavellite matrix of acicular crystals forming radial greenish yellow aggregates. We’ll provide a copy of the analysis to the buyer.

A curious pseudomorph in which Turquoise completely replaces Apatite but clearly preserving the shape and the forms of the prism and the pyramid of the pre-existing Apatite crystal.

The phosphate deposit of Palazuelo de las Cuevas (Zamora, Spain) is well known for the presence of Variscite. This mineral was mined by Prehistoric man. Variscite occasionally is accompanied by Turquoise, Wavellite and other phosphates. In this specimen the coating of Turquoise, as small globular and leafy microcrystal blue greenish aggregates, contrasts with the botryoidal Wavellite. We’ll provide a copy of the analysis to the buyer.

A considerably large Aegirine crystal with very well defined faces and edges, with good terminations and a unique characteristic, a very well defined and visible frontal twin, not previously noted at Mount Malosa, as far as we know. The twinned crystal is on a matrix of white feldspar crystals and its back is partially coated by small Zircon crystals, many of them doubly terminated.

Extraordinary specimen. The cogwheel twin, along with some other smaller ones, is perfectly placed on the matrix and has maintained its brilliance over the years. The locality is also wonderful: Herodsfoot Mine. To add even more to its glory it was bought from Sir Arthur Russell in 1926.

Although Calcite is a common species, that does not always hold true globally. This is a novelty for Madagascar since its discovery in August 2004, an aggregate that highlights the sharpness of its crystals, their color and luster and, especially, the appearance of extraordinarily unusual twins formed by the interpenetration of two rhombohedra.
