A novelty at Tucson 2015. Extraordinarily sharp japan law twin with very well defined and transparent crystals. We note that the japan law twin, already rare, is even more rare in Alpine type crevices where this Quartz is formed. The sample is a floater with a recrystallized base.

It is getting less and less common to find specimens from this locality, which was worked for only a brief time.

MR72AB7: Quartz (variety amethyst) epitactic Calcite
Druse of Quartz (variety amethyst) crystals, one of them clearly dominant and with a considerable size. They are coating the surfaces of a group of now missing Calcite crystals, preserving their original shape. The crystals show a neat geometric color zoning, clearer on the prism faces and deep violet on the terminations. The sample is from a not well known quarry at the classic Artigas área and where very interesting and esthetic samples are today being recovered.

Druse of Quartz (amethyst variety) crystals, on a small matrix of basalt rock. Thick aerial crystals, with very sharp faces and edges and an intense amethyst color, with partial coatings of small Calcite crystals very visible on the back of the piece. The specimen belonged to Santiago Jiménez who, especially in the 1980s and 90s, assembled an excellent collection.
