Complex crystal with curvatures on its faces and edges, twinned, with parallel growths, transparent, with an excellent deep honey color and partially coated by small white Dolomite crystals. From a Spanish mine, inaccessible for many of years, that is considered as a classic for the Sphalerite.

NB14S0: Sphalerite with Dolomite
Group of crystals with very well defined faces and edges, very bright, transparent, and its color is yellow with very well defined greenish shades. The color is very unusual and different from the more common yellow or orange on most of the samples from this locality.

Group of crystals with very well defined faces and edges and an area of parallel growth. They are very bright, transparent and have a deep orange color.
The specimen has been reviewed and published in the magazine ‘Lapis’ on page 23, volume 36, number 7-8, July-August 2011

Complex equidimensional crystals, translucent and with a very deep toasted honey color. They are on matrix, with Dolomite. From a Spanish mine, inaccessible for many of years, that is considered as a classic for the Sphalerite.

N96DZ8: Sphalerite with Dolomite
Group of Sphalerite crystals with marked curvatures on faces and edges. They are transparent, have an intense honey color and are on white Dolomite crystals on a rocky matrix. Famous worldwide for their color and transparency, this sample is quite different from other “more classic” Sphalerites from Áliva.

Polycrystalline growth with slightly curved faces and edges, transparent, very bright, and with a very deep, uniform honey color. The specimen is a product of small finds made intermittently in the mine after its closure. Currently the galleries are not accessible.

Complex Sphalerite crystal group, with multiple faces and curved edges. The color is excellent and contrasts with the snowy white Dolomite matrix.

Translucent Sphalerite crystals with very well defined faces and edges, with a very neat green color (cleiophane variety) which is rare at Áliva, They are very bright and are on matrix, with white, small, Dolomite crystals.

VB58G8: Sphalerite with Dolomite
Being known from the Moscona Mine, Sphalerite is a species rarely found there. On the piece crystals have an uncommon development (for the mine) for their larger size and bright luster. The dark color contrasts with the snowy white of the Dolomite in classic saddle-shaped crystals.

SV180NNG: Sphalerite with Dolomite and Calcite
Druse of complex Sphalerite crystals with curvatures and smooth tetrahedron forms. The crystals, between transparent and translucent, have a dense, deep and uniform caramel color, and are in matrix with white Dolomite crystals and small partially dissolved Calcite crystals. From a classic Spanish mine for Sphalerite, located in a spectacular setting next to Los Picos de Europa National Park, inaccessible for many years already after the galleries were flooded.

A powerful piece. Perfectly sharp and outlined Sphalerite crystal group, of complex and twinned crystallography, of very deep toasted honey color, transparent and implanted in a rock matrix, on very well defined Dolomite crystals with a snow-white color and small crystals of Calcite. ET90L1: Sphalerite with Dolomite and Calcite
Very complex Sphalerite crystal groups. Very sharp faces and edges, some of them with interesting curvatures. Crystals are translucent, with a dark honey color, on rhombohedral white Dolomite and scalenohedral yellowish Calcite crystals. Elmwood is one of the great classics of the USA for Calcite crystals, but also it has provided excellent Sphalerite specimens. So, as we said, a great one.

TQ66AM8: Sphalerite with Dolomite and Siderite
Group of complex Sphalerite crystals, transparent (with back lighting) and lustrous, with an intense color, on a matrix of white rhombohedral Dolomite crystals and small lenticular crystals of light cream colored Siderite. A great French classic with a crystal size bigger than usual in this deposit and with the isolated crystals appearing in very good contrast with the white Dolomite crystals.

NP27AA6: Sphalerite with Dolomite and Siderite
Druse of small, complex, twinned Sphalerite crystals, extraordinarily bright and transparent and with a very deep honey color. The matrix is partially coated by small, white Dolomite crystals and rhombohedral Siderite crystals. This mine is currently abandoned and flooded, and its old galleries are completely inaccessible.

NB87X9: Sphalerite with Dolomite and Siderite
Complex polycrystalline growths of Sphalerite. They are translucent, very bright, with curved faces and edges and with a very deep reddish color, and on a matrix of white Dolomite crystals with a small group of brown Siderite rhombohedrons. The mine is currently collapsed and filled with water, so such Sphalerite samples are currently part of Spanish mineralogical history.
