Coatings of rhombohedral Siderite microcrystals that are very bright and have a deep yellowish color with golden reflections. They are are on a group of Quartz (amethyst variety) crystals with a very pale color. The sample is from the collection of La Unión area minerals of Alain Martaud whose label we’ll send to the buyer.

NY13AB1: Siderite with Quartz and Arsenopyrite
Aggregate of prismatic Siderite crystals with pinacoidal terminations. They have a very uniform dark brown color and silky luster due to microcrystalline surfaces on the prisms. The Siderite is with a small matrix of Quartz and Arsenopyrite and has cubic Pyrite microcrystals on its faces. Unlike most Panasqueira Siderite, this sample lacks the typically dull creamy second generation, which makes it very showy.

SV2150TBY: Siderite with Quartz and Chalcopyrite
Aesthetic specimen formed by sharp lenticular crystals of zoned brown Siderite, randomly arranged on a rock matrix totally carpeted by snow-white Quartz crystals offering a nice contrast of colors. Several brightly colored Chalcopyrite crystals, golden and very shiny, adorn the piece. The specimen comes from the former collection of Robert-Auguste Touchon and, most surprisingly, was found in the area of some coal mines, west of La Mure, which were closed in 1997.

Siderite, Quartz, Arsenopyrite, Muscovite, Pyrite.
16NF13: Siderite, Quartz, Arsenopyrite, Muscovite, Pyrite
A plate formed by an aggregate of Muscovite crystals, interspersed with some lustrous Arsenopyrite crystals with well defined faces and edges, as well as water-clear Quartz crystals, one of them clearly dominant and with very marked growth striations. This combo is further adorned by a group of light brown lenticular Siderite crystals with a darker outline, some of them scattered and more isolated while others have grown on the Quartz crystals. Finally, a small group of Pyrite crystals completes the specimen. As so often happens with Panasqueira specimens, we can observe part of the paragenesis of the mine in a single piece.

Other smaller Siderite crystals associated with Pyrite crystals are sprinkled over it. A classic paragenesis for the Panasqueira Mines from where this specimen came.
