Group of rhombododecahedral Almandine crystals, with very well defined faces and edges, in a mica schist matrix. The specimen, from a place where few good quality almandines are known, comes from the collection of Andrés Jiménez Shelly, and was previously in the collection of José Luís Otero.

10TR46: Almandine
Very sharp dodecahedral Almandine crystals, one of them dominant, lustrous, and brown in color with reddish tones. The crystals sit in a metamorphic rock matrix formed of innumerable Muscovite crystals. Contrary to the common practice with almandines from this region, the crystals in this piece are not glued, nor have they had their faces retouched or polished, so their natural surface is preserved. A classic Tyrolean specimen.
