This year, as has been the case for the latest shows, the
number of novelties was not that high, so the show was dominated by classic specimens
that have come from old collections put up for sale as well as material from active
locations (China, Pakistan, Morocco, Rumania, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Myanmar...)
In terms of real novelties, we saw and bought
those described below.
|
|
New Chabazite-Ca that has good color and crystal size, from
the Imilchil region of Morocco.
|
|
|
Also from Morocco, at a small, old mining area, 1700
m above sea level, near the village of Tounfit and about 50 km from Midelt, they
found some superb Fluorite that has exceptional brilliance, color and form.

|
At the San Bartolo Mine, Charcas, México, during
late 2005 and early 2006 some neat associations were found of Danburite with Quartz
(Amethyst) appealing and unusual.

|
|
In Vietnam, a single pocket was found during 2005 at Minh
Tien pegmatite, in Luc Yen, that produced a series of exceptional specimens of
Liddicoatite, most were single crystals but they showed extraordinary color, quality
and crystal size.

|
From China, we got some specimens of the, recently approved
(2002), new species Manganilvaite, from the Daye mining area.
|

As well as these novelties we also took various new finds
to the show, among which those from Brazil stand out: phosphates in the Variscite-Strengite
series, a neat red-purple color, from the Mina Boa Vista, in Galiléia,
Minas Gerais; the new Euclases from Equador, Parelhas, Rio Grande do Norte; or
the polychromatic Elbaites from Berilândia, Ceará.

From Spain we took the Quartz (Amethyst) scepters from Sils,
Girona and from Peru the new yellow, translucent Sphalerites, associated with
Galena and Rhodochrosite, from the Mina Santa Rita, at 4350 m above sea level,
Junín, Peru.
