Druse, on matrix, of complex, twinned Calcite crystals with the dominant faces of a scalenohedron, a prism and a terminal rhombohedron. The crystals are lustrous and transparent and have an intense and uniform yellow color. As in so many specimens in this collection, the sample is of great quality for the locality.

A common species like Calcite is not usually world class, but in this case we observe a group of crystals from the August 2004 discovery in Madagascar, formed by an attractive aggregate, in which the sharpness of the crystals, their color and luster, and especially the appearance of extraordinarily unusual twins, formed by the interpenetration of two rhombohedra, are outstanding.

Floater aggregate of Calcite crystals with oriented faces forming parallel growths of extraordinarily flattened crystals (a habit that is well known as “papierspat.” The aggregate is partially coated, mainly on the back, by Chlorite, very sharp Orthoclase (adularia variety) crystals and small Quartz crystals.
The sample is from the duplicates collection of Joaquín Folch, whose label we’ll send to the buyer.
