Elbaite (variety rubellite) on Schorl.
TC88V7: Elbaite (variety rubellite) on Schorl
Polycrystalline aggregates (“mushroom” shaped) of Elbaite (rubellite) with very well developed curvatures on the faces and edges that confer this curious appearance to the aggregate. The crystals have three very different shades of color: pale pink on the prism faces, of fibrous aspect, and the terminal faces that present two different red tones. The growth of Elbaite is coating a crystal of Schorl as a hood.

Classic prismatic crystal from Pederneira terminated wit three faces of a very acute rhombohedron. Color is very deep and the transparency is excellent. The esthetic equilibrium is due to the coverage of Muscovite on the right side of the sample.

The crystals of Eosphorite are prismatic and doubly terminated and are more individualized than usual. The base is a doubly terminated crystal of Smoky Quartz. At one end it is progressively milky and at the opposite end it has a crown of pink crystals. The specimen is completed by a fine white matrix of Feldspar (probably Orthoclase)

Group of crystals, of pistachio green color, with very simple forms but with a very uncommon habit, the predominance of a very well developed frontal pinacoid that results in the crystal being really smooth. The crystals are bright and deep green, almost black.

Although it looks very similar to the famous Bou Azzer ones, the deposit of this specimen is located about 500 Km. from the Bou Azzer Mine and in a different geological environment. As far as we know these Erythrites were not known before and they come not from the Tazalarht quarries but in a new shaft/prospect located very close to the Tazalarht quarries. Related species are Quartz, Phlogopite (analyzed) and a mix of Chalcocite-Djurleite-Digenite in the matrix.
