TFA47AN5: Spheroidal growths of very lustrous rhombohedral Rhodochrosite microcrystals with an intense and uniform pink color, on matrix, with small Quartz crystals. Interestingly, from this same mine and time period, similar but paler colored specimens were found that turned out to be manganese-bearing calcites, whereas these more intensely colored specimens turned out on analysis to be true rhodochrosites. One of the best Peruvian Gold samples we have ever seen, as they are rarely crystallized. We also note that the Quartz hasn’t been acid-etched to dissolve it and expose the Gold.
