TE12N0: A novelty for Tucson 2009. From a new Moroccan locality, not yet well determined. Azurite forms groups of small crystals, almost globular, on a Quartz matrix that has a curious coating that, analyzed, is a melange of clay, chalky powder and some kind of submicrocrystalline copper phosphate.
This specimen was photographed for the ‘what’s new at Tucson 2009’ section of the magazine ‘Mineralien Welt’ and appears on page 7 of number 3/2009.

TF16N0: A novelty for Tucson 2009. From a new Moroccan locality, not yet well determined. Azurite, on Quartz matrix, forms flattened crystals with parallel growths and multiple terminations. On the lower part, these crystals are partially coated by a material that, analyzed, is a melange of clay, chalky powder and some kind of submicrocrystalline copper phosphate.

EPX99CD5: Group of numerous Azurite crystals on a rock matrix, partially covered by a yellowish layer of iron oxides (analyzed). The Azurite crystals are very sharp and perfectly defined, with a very deep and intense blue color.
The specimen comes from the mining area of Tazalarht, in Morocco, from a relatively recent discovery.

LZ27AK4: Stalactitic growth of brilliant lenticular Azurite crystals with very bright color, on a first generation of crystals of similar morphology, matte and very dark blue, with small coatings of Malachite. The specimen, from a not very well known locality, comes from the Philippe Morelon collection (No. 792), whose label we will send to the buyer.

TB10AN2: A novelty at Sainte Marie Virtual 2021: Coatings of primary Malachite crystals with irregular but distinguishable shapes, deep green in color, with a second generation of centered growths of fine acicular crystals with a silky luster and very vivid color. On a limonite matrix. The specimen comes from recent finds in the Tazalarht area.

MEB87ASN5: New find in Munich 2024, featured in edition 56, number 1, of the Mineralogical Record magazine.
Group of Malachite crystals, of considerable size for the locality, with well-defined faces and edges, and a very uniform deep green color, which have grown on a hyaline and well-defined Quartz crystal.
The specimen has been analyzed and identified as Malachite, and although a pseudomorph cannot be ruled out, this possibility seems unlikely to us, given the appearance, shape, and great luster of the crystals.
The Tazalarht mining area continues to offer pleasant mineral surprises.

Malachite after Azurite
 

MTF66CD5: Group of Malachite pseudomorphs with two different habits, one with thin, quadratic tabular crystals of what could perhaps have been Baryte, and the other with more elongated and thinner crystals of what perhaps could have been Azurite. Implanted on a limonitic rock matrix.
The specimen comes from the Tazalarht mining district in Morocco, from a relatively recent discovery.

EA13AD8: A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux- Mines 2016. Aggregates of acicular Olivenite crystals, individualized or forming radial aggregates, with the olive-green color typical for the species, on limonite matrix and with rosette aggregates of lenticular Azurite crystals with a vivid and deep color. The Olivenite has been analyzed and we’ll send a copy of the analysis to the buyer. As usual with the Moroccan novelties, the locality is not yet completely confirmed, but it is very plausible that it is Tazalarht.

EA28AB9: A novelty at Ste. Marie 2015, a new worldwide locality for fine Erythrite! Although it looks very similar to the famous Bou Azzer ones, the deposit of this specimen is located about 500 Km. from the Bou Azzer Mine and in a different geological environment.
As far as we know these Erythrites were not known before and they come not from the Tazalarht quarries but in a new shaft/prospect located very close to the Tazalarht quarries. Related species are Quartz, Phlogopite (analyzed) and a mix of Chalcocite-Djurleite-Digenite in the matrix.

EF97AB9: A novelty at Ste. Marie 2015, a new worldwide locality for fine Erythrite! Although it looks very similar to the famous Bou Azzer ones, the deposit of this specimen is located about 500 Km. from the Bou Azzer Mine and in a different geological environment.
As far as we know these Erythrites were not known before and they come not from the Tazalarht quarries but in a new shaft/prospect located very close to the Tazalarht quarries. Related species are Quartz, Phlogopite (analyzed) and a mix of Chalcocite-Djurleite-Digenite in the matrix.

EA88AC2: A novelty at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines 2015. Aggregate of very elongated crystals that have a quite different shape than the better known Erythrite from Bou Azzer. These crystals in a Phlogopite-rich matrix are notable by their luster and color, very intense and uniform.

TA50AJ4: Columnar and globular Vanadinite growths with curious and very esthetic crested forms of very sharp tabular crystals with a very intense color and luster and partially coated by white Calcite. Perhaps it reminds one of a swan? A dromedary? Who knows! 😃

N11BI7: Doubly terminated, very bright and absolutely clear crystal. It is on a matrix of crystallized Siderite. The crystal has curious deformations on the terminal faces and shows inclusions on its central zone.

Cerussite on Quartz with Goethite inclusions
 

EB66F9: Good quality Cerussits, not so long ago, were relatively common from Touissit and Mibladen, two of the biggest classic localities in Morocco. Samples from Taouz are much more difficult to find. This one is a group of twinned Cerussite crystals with a silky aspect and excellent development on matrix.

EG67W7: Aggregates, on a limonite matrix, of small lenticular crystals of Azurite. They have an unusually vivid blue color and are coating a thick Quartz crystal, itself coated with limonite, and they are intermixed with globular growths of Malachite.

Chalcostibite with Azurite  

TL92AE1: Aggregate of elongated Chalcostibite crystals with very good terminal faces, not common on this kind of sample and, in general, with very well defined faces and edges. The Chalcostibite is partially replaced by Azurite forming bright surfaces with a very vivid color.
The sample is with a label, originally from Ernesto Ossola, that we’ll send to the buyer.

Chalcostibite with Azurite and Malachite
 

TR36AF4: A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux-Mines 2017. Group of Chalcostibite crystals, some of them forming parallel growths and partially doubly terminated, with excellent terminal faces and superficially replaced by Azurite and small Malachite impregnations. The quality of the sample and the definition of the crystals are very high and unusual for the species.
This specimen was photographed and published as a novelty at the 2017 Ste. Marie Show in the magazine ‘Le Règne Minéral’ number 136, page 47, the magazine "Lapis" number 07-08/2017, page 71 and as a Ste. Marie 2017 new discovery in the magazine ‘Mineralogical Record’ on page 693 in the volume 48, number 5, September-October 2017

EH87AG3: A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux-Mines 2017. Big and elongated Chalcostibite crystals with very good terminal faces, not common on this kind of sample and, in general, with very well defined faces and edges. The Chalcostibite is partially replaced by Azurite forming bright surfaces with a very vivid color. This is one of the best samples of the great find in 2017 when Chalcostibites of Rhar el Anz were re-discovered.

Linarite and Brochantite

A Moroccan novelty was the recent find of nice Linarite. This species is not normally found in this country and, although the crystal form is not as good as the better ones from USA, the intensity of its color and the richness makes these specimens very good.

MX62E8: The prismatic, flat crystals with good color and brilliance are not that well defined, as is often the case with this species, which takes advantage of cracks when forming away from other copper minerals. The whole sample is improved by the concretion of micro-crystals of prismatic Brochantite near the bottom of the specimen.

MZ36T6: Aggregates of Linarite crystals with the flattened shape typical for the species. They have very intense color and luster and contrast with the deep green color of the acicular crystals of Brochantite.

EF11H2: Predominating Brochantite fills the specimen of green color and embellishes the upper part with beautiful radially divergent groups of acicular crystals.

On the back, the crystal has a neat contact, of sugary aspect, from the lost matrix from which it seems to have separated very easily.
