MH9AL3: Group of black rhombododecahedral Andradite crystals, very sharp, on a Feldspar matrix, with small octahedral Magnetite crystals.

Specimen size: 3 × 2.7 × 2.4 cm = 1.18” × 1.06” × 0.94”

ED96AD7: A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux- Mines 2016. Characteristically platy Ilmenite crystals with irregular contour and completely pseudomorphed by Rutile, coated by very sharp Titanite crystals that are bright, with very well defined faces and edges, and with a very apparent pleochroism that shows a yellow color under led light but is greenish with natural or neon light.
The process of replacement of Ilmenite by Rutile seems very similar to that of other localities with similar geological conditions (by example the Zambian Rutile) and it is due to hydrothermal processes at the site. These samples, very different from the Titanite previously known at Imilchil, have required a hurried analytical process that we’ll extend and complete. We’ll send to the buyer the information and documentation previously obtained about the process and also a copy of the analyses done on the different species present in these samples.

EK48AE1: A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux-Mines 2016. Platy Ilmenite crystals with irregular contours and completely pseudomorphed by Rutile, coated by very sharp Titanite crystals that are bright, with very well defined faces and edges, and with a very apparent pleochroism that shows a yellow color under led light but is greenish with daylight or neon light. Partially coated by Microcline crystals.
The process of replacement of Ilmenite by Rutile seems very similar to that of other localities with similar geological conditions (by example the Zambian Rutile) and it is due to hydrothermal processes at the site. EF90AG9: A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux- Mines 2016. Platy Ilmenite crystals with irregular pseudo-hexagonal contour and completely pseudomorphed by Rutile, coated by very sharp Titanite crystals that are bright, with very well defined faces and edges and coated in the back by Microcline crystals. The Titanite crystals have a very apparent pleochroism that shows a yellow color under led light but is greenish with natural or neon light. Very aerial group of very sharp thin tabular Baryte crystals, transparent, bright with an intense reddish-yellow color on a matrix of white crystallized Quartz with groups of very bright cubic Pyrite crystals, and partially coated by small white aggregates of Quartz microcrystals and Pyrite crystals. The sample is very esthetic and very well balanced. The color deserves a separate comment because there is a mixture of reddish yellow, with orange in some areas but mainly concentrated on the edges, and blue locally with greenish hues on the wide main pinacoid faces.

These Golds are a curiosity and a rarity in collections since only a few specimens were found and for only a few months.

FD16AL5: Very dominant elongated crystals of Allargentum, with intergrowths of Silver and Dyscrasite, on a Calcite matrix with centered growths of acicular crystals of Actinolite (byssolite variety). The Allargentum appears to be clearly the majority in the two analyses (EDS and XRD) carried out on the specimen, demonstrating that it is not a pseudomorph but rather Allargentum crystals intergrown with Dyscrasite and Silver. It comes from the Jordi Fabre collection. We will send the buyer a copy of the analyses and the original collection label (No. F1765)
