Fluorite as a cubo-octahedral crystal with the cube faces being smooth and the octahedron faces having polycrystalline growths. Transparent, lustrous, with inclusions, and intense lilac color, deeper on the cube faces. The Fluorite crystal, on a Chalcopyrite matrix, although of simple forms, appears relatively complex by combining the basic outline of an octahedron with the staggered cubic forms that form "Aztec pyramid" growths. Especially noteworthy is the color zoning, light blue inside and strongly violet on the edges of the cubic faces.

EV37AM1: Fluorite with Chalcopyrite

Group of very sharp crystals with a cubic habit, translucent, with good luster and an extraordinarily intense and vivid blue color, with inclusions of small Chalcopyrite crystals. Due to its color, one would guess that it is a specimen from Puy-Saint-Gulmier or from the Le Beix mine, but in reality it comes from Le Burc, where Fluorites very rarely have this intensity of color.
The specimen is from the prestigious Pierre-Marie Guy fluorite collection.
