ND47AM4: Chalcocite with Bornite after Chalcocite and Pyrite

Very sharp crystals of Chalcocite as sharp twins, shiny, with a metallic gray tone, on Bornite pseudomorphic after Chalcocite, with an intense metallic blue color and with Pyrite microcrystals. The specimen comes from the last find before the definitive closure of open-pit mining here, and this is the first time that collector quality Bornite has appeared from this locality.

FA77: Chalcocite with Calcite

Again, something extremely unusual from Martín. This well formed Chalcocite which is aerial on the Calcite matrix comes from Chile. On Oliete's label the location is written as being Chuquicamata. After hard investigations about Chilean mineral localities I'm able to tell that it must came from Copiapó and I'm also able to say that I have never seen anything similar in my life and I'm sure that not too much other people have either. Well, it is good, sharp and extremely original.

The beauty of modest and rare form and color. An aerial group of strongly elongated Chalcocite crystals with very well defined faces and edges, arborescent recrystallizations on terminations and coated by fine botryoidal growths of iridescent Chalcopyrite that have dominant blue and green metallic shades. We know from existing references that Djurleite partially substitutes for most of the crystals.

Remarkably elongated Chalcocite crystals and stalagmitic clusters. The Chalcocite is completely covered by iridescent Chalcopyrite, with dominant blue, violet, green and yellow tones. From the existing bibliography, it seems that in some cases the Chalcocite crystals are partially replaced by Djurleite.

ERT26AN4: Chalcocite with Malachite

New discovery: very aerial floater group of platy Chalcocite crystals with a very sharp pseudo-hexagonal outline, very lustrous, and with fine coatings of Malachite. The specimen comes from new workings in the M'Passa area where a group of small mines yielded, in a glorious past, specimens with large sharp crystals. With the closure of the workings in the 1980s, that glory was lost, but fortunately it has now returned with specimens as magnificent as those and, moreover, with a great variety of crystallographic habits.

ERV37AN4: Chalcocite with Malachite

New discovery: very aerial floater group of platy Chalcocite crystals with a sharp pseudo-hexagonal outline and with fine coatings of Malachite. The specimen comes from new workings in the M'Passa area where a group of small mines produced, in a glorious past, specimens with large sharp crystals. With the cessation of exploitation in the 1980s that glory was lost, but fortunately it has now returned with specimens as magnificent as those and, moreover, with a great variety of crystallographic habits.
