Beautiful miniature. A crown of well defined crystals of very deep color caps the matrix, a prismatic crystal of Quartz.
The specimen is from the Dick Nelson collection and it is with two labels, the original collection and another from the Mineral Cabinet of MaD Minerals.

Group of crystals of quite well defined faces and edges and very deep color on a base of uncolored crystals. On the pink Quartz there are small prismatic and doubly terminated crystals of Eosphorite.

ER90AE8: Quartz (variety scepter) with Hematite (variety iron rose)
A novelty at Tucson 2017. Aggregate of Quartz crystals with a very well defined scepter terminal growth and a rosette aggregate (iron-rose variety) of thin laminar Hematite crystals. Those crystals have been analyzed and we’ll send a copy of the analysis to the buyer. Due their similarity the samples from this mine can be easily confused with those from the Huanggang mines.
The specimen has been published in the book 'China II', by Berthold Ottens, on page 231

EFG99AN6: Quartz (variety smoky & gwindel) with Albite
Group of Quartz crystals (smoky variety), one of them clearly dominant and centered on the matrix, partially doubly terminated, with parallel growths and very marked gwindel twist, extraordinarily transparent and lustrous, with a very vivid and deep smoky color, associated with small crystals of Albite. Extraordinary, far superior in perfection, transparency and color to other similar specimens.

Quartz crystal with Tessiner habit, with the typical very acute form of the faces of an uncommon rhombohedron, greatly elongated producing the piling up of the central zone of the prism which becomes progressively thicker toward the base.

RK37F8: Quartz (variety smoky and gwindel)
A doubly terminated, slightly curved, smoky, very transparent gwindel. The special thing is that, apart from its perfection, it is on a matrix on doubly terminated, but not gwindel, Quartz. This floater was bought from Kaspar Nelly (Switzerland) in March 1948.

RL96H9: Quartz (variety smoky and gwindel)
Some groups formed by subparallel growths of prismatic crystals are referred to as gwindels. In this one the smoky color is not deep but the crystals are clear and bright. The locality is a classic for an Alpine gwindel.

A classic Alpine gwindel, Swiss in this case. The color is deep smoky and it is enhanced by the extreme transparency and luster of the sample. It is free of damage because the lower side is a neat contact.

RC47H7: Quartz (variety smoky and gwindel) with Chlorite
Parallel aggregate with a slightly twisting (gwindel) The faces of the prism are neat and bright; meanwhile the rhombohedron is rough and matte due to Chlorite inclusions. The specimen entered the Folch collection through an exchange in 1947.

A novelty at the Ste. Marie-aux-Mines 2015 Show. Excellent example in which the two directions of the smoky Quartz crystals have been controlled epitactically by the feldspar upon which they grew. They resemble multiple Japan law twins but they are not twins. This phenomenon is seen on similar specimens from the Erongo Mountains, Namibia, as described by John White in an article in Rocks & Minerals, vol. 87, Sept./Oct. 2012, pp. 459-462, but this one has a related combo of small species, classics from Malawi.
