The specimen has been reviewed, photographed and published as a new discovery in the magazine ‘Mineralogical Record’ on page 751 in the volume 47, number 6 (November-December 2016)

Very fine specimen formed by a matrix of Calcite crystals on which grew a forest of filiform Silver crystals, among which one very aerial growth of a twisted Silver crystal stands out, divided in two in its upper part and encompassing a pair of Calcite crystals. An exquisite piece from a gold deposit in Shandong Province, China.

MV27AG5: Silver with Calcite
Very aerial growth of curved (“wire”) and hooked native silver crystals that are very elongated with a striated aspect. Small Calcite granules are included in the Silver.
The sample, very typical of Kongsberg, is from the Leif Engman collection, of Sweden, and one of the added labels indicates it was previously in the Axel R. Andersson collection, of Uppsala, three labels that we’ll send to the buyer.

For its size the sample is really precious. Like a fossilized crystal of fern, the Silver surrounds the Calcite matrix, both of which sit on a fragment of rock that acts as its matrix.

An esthetic specimen, very aerial, in which are some crystals are elongated and some of them show the twin plane clearly, in a Calcite matrix.
Sr. Folch purchased the specimen in 1962, but, as documentation explains, it was probably mined around 1910.
