The sample has been sawed on the lower part to reduce the matrix. This kind of Chalcopyrite was not known at the locality until now.

JFD180AP1: Chalcopyrite with Dolomite and Siderite
One hell of a piece (for this deposit anyway). Chalcopyrite is not exactly the most famous species from the Troya mine, but this specimen, found in the first years of exploitation, shows good sharp crystals, displaying a nice contrast with the Dolomite and the Siderite that are typical there. Of the best possible quality for this locality.

Very sharp bisphenoidal crystals of Chalcopyrite with a pseudotetrahedral habit, twinned and with the good color and luster characteristic of the species. They appear with Dolomite crystals embedded in a Calcite matrix and rarely with associated Gypsum crystals, as in this case. This type of specimen was unknown until this find at the locality.

Twinned crystal of Chalcopyrite with the dominant forms of the trapezohedron, very sharp, lustrous and on a Quartz crystal with the typical La Gardette habit. Some crystals of Chalcopyrite from this locality, a minority, are yellow as they are not pseudomorphed by Malachite. The specimen comes from the Gérard Forquet collection (number 903).
