The specimen is completed by crystals of Sphalerite which form the matrix, and tiny crystals of Pyrite sprinkled between the white Calcite crystals.

Due to its special transparency, the Calcite crystal has a high birrefringence that allows one to see “double” images through it.

XM2180TAH: Calcite with Dolomite, Fluorite and Pyrite
Group of scalenohedral Calcite crystals, one of them clearly dominant, doubly terminated and with complete polycrystalline terminations. This crystal is translucent, but transparent towards the ends, cream-white in color and implanted on a matrix of rock partially covered by yellowish Fluorite crystals and small white Dolomite crystals. On the back of the piece the matrix is almost totally covered by tiny greyish crystals of Pyrite. The specimen comes from the collection of Miguel David Martínez Pérez (number 835) whose label we will send to the buyer.
