Druse of rhombohedral Azurite crystals with polycrystalline growths and a very vivid color and luster on matrix with fibrous Malachite that has a silky luster. The sample, from a not well-known collection, is very old and has the characteristics of the Azurites that were from the “Mine bleue,” typical of the XIX century.

Elongated Azurite crystals on matrix with excellent terminal faces. They are translucent and bright with a very vivid color, and with surfaces coated by Malachite. An excellent Moroccan classic that, unlike so many samples from this mine, is large and in perfect condition.

Aggregate of very sharp Azurite crystals, one of them clearly dominant. These crystals, between translucent and transparent, are very bright and have the extraordinarily deep and vivid blue color (“electric blue”) typical of the best samples from Milpillas and they are implanted on a rough Malachite band coating the matrix. The esthetic blue-green contrast between Azurite and Malachite is not too common at Milpillas.

The sample, a Tsumeb classic of great quality, is from the Raúl Sanabria collection, and it previously was in the Lloyd Tate collection. So, we’ll send to the buyer the labels of both collections and a third, a commercial label of Weinrich Minerals.

Very aerial aggregate of thick crystals, with an elongated lenticular habit, very sharp crystal forms with slight curvatures, on Azurite matrix. Has a deep blue color (“electric blue”) typical of the best Milpillas specimens. With transparencies on the edges and a very intense luster. The aggregate is partially covered on the back by aggregates of fibrous Malachite crystals with a silky luster, very characteristic of the famous Milpillas vug that yielded such isolated crystals with this lenticular habit and with fibrous Malachite on the back of most of that vug's specimens.

Flattened, almost lenticular, Azurite crystals with sharp and very well defined faces and edges, with a very vivid color, very good luster and showing Malachite replacements on some of the faces. The sample, an excellent French classic from the beginnings of the 19th century, has a quite better quality than usual on samples from the locality, and it is from the ancient collection of Quintino Sella (number 214) whose label, unfortunately, was lost.

The specimen has been reviewed, photographed and published as a new discovery in the magazine ‘Rivista Mineralogica Italiana’ on page 191 in number 2008/3.
