A novelty on the market in 2022. Very aerial and aesthetic arborescent growth of Silver, with a very marked spinel-law twin plane. With small Calcite crystals that adorn it and differentiate it from the classic Hongda silvers. These pieces come from a find made in a small gold working, currently closed, and which showed no evidence of such good silvers until now.

MV27AG5: Silver with Calcite
Very aerial growth of curved (“wire”) and hooked native silver crystals that are very elongated with a striated aspect. Small Calcite granules are included in the Silver.
The sample, very typical of Kongsberg, is from the Leif Engman collection, of Sweden, and one of the added labels indicates it was previously in the Axel R. Andersson collection, of Uppsala, three labels that we’ll send to the buyer.

For its size the sample is really precious. Like a fossilized crystal of fern, the Silver surrounds the Calcite matrix, both of which sit on a fragment of rock that acts as its matrix.

An esthetic specimen, very aerial, in which are some crystals are elongated and some of them show the twin plane clearly, in a Calcite matrix.
Sr. Folch purchased the specimen in 1962, but, as documentation explains, it was probably mined around 1910.

Very aerial laminar growth with fresh, very well marked crystalline surfaces. It is on a rocky matrix, with cleaved Calcite. Its excellent condition of conservation in spite of the long time since it was mined suggests it hasn't embedded or interstitial mercury. It is not, then, the variety kongsbergite, the more typical Silver at this locality.

Growths of unusually sharp and well defined Silver crystals that are bright and on matrix, with Calcite and Löllingite. Although we haven’t our own analysis there is a general consensus that these from Tamdrost are really cubic Silver and not pseudomorphs or epitaxial overgrowths.
