Very sharp and acute scalenohedral Rhodochrosite crystals. They are transparent, have a very intense red color, and are on a matrix of manganese oxides with small Quartz crystals. The sample is very characteristic of Uchucchacua and it is better conserved than usual.

Some similar specimens, with paler tones and from the same mine and period, were identified as manganese-bearing calcites, so we have had these with a more intense tone analyzed, and they turned out to be true rhodochrosites.
