A curious “gavel” floater growth that is rarely complete, as in this case. It is translucent and has a neat zoning of the color, violet on the terminations and yellowish in the central zone.

An excellent sample, very representative from Myanmar and very different to the usual Fluorite specimens. Crystals are cubes with echeloned growths and manifest curvatures on faces and edges which confer a peculiar aspect to the sample.

The thing that attracted me to this floater is the strange (and unusual for this locality) color zoning that is between orange and violet, as well as the uneven thickness of the crystals, which makes them look tabular.

Crystals show a very rare double habit where two phases of growth co-exist. Both phases are very well marked by the differences of color and luster. The first phase forms an inner octahedron, bright and of very deep violet color, only distinguishable because the second phase, whitish and less bright, formed the cube and the triangular faces of the octahedron that allowed the tips of the primitive octahedron to project as small pyramids.
