Cinnabar with Quartz, Calcite and Gypsum.
TC110TN: Cinnabar with Quartz, Calcite and Gypsum
Cinnabar crystals with a dominant rhombohedral shape plus minor crystal forms, translucent, extraordinarily lustrous and with a very vivid color, on matrix with small crystals of Calcite, Quartz and Gypsum. The specimen has been carefully analyzed and determined to be Cinnabar and, although it was suggested that Metacinabar could be found in these specimens too, our analyses have not detected any. We will send a copy of the analysis to the buyer.

Cinnabar, Calcite.
11TE13: Cinnabar, Calcite
A novelty at Tucson 2020. Cinnabar crystals with dominant rhombohedral habit, along with other minor crystal forms, translucent, extraordinarily brilliant and very bright in color, on matrix with small crystals of Calcite. The specimen comes from a recent find and has been carefully analyzed and determined to be Cinnabar. It had been claimed that in specimens from this find there could be Metacinnabar too, but our analyses have not detected any. We’ll send a copy of the analysis to the buyer.

A novelty at Tucson 2020. Crystals of Cinnabar with a dominant rhombohedral habit and some minor crystal forms, translucent, extraordinarily lustrous and with a very vivid color, on a white saccharoidal Gypsum matrix, with small Calcite crystals. The specimen comes from a recent find which has been carefully analyzed and determined to be Cinnabar and, despite the fact that it has been said that Metacinnabar could be present too in specimens from this find, our analyses have not detected any. We will send a copy of that analysis to the buyer.

Twinned Cinnabar with Quartz and Dolomite.
ZA73G7: Twinned Cinnabar with Quartz and Dolomite
An excellent group of twinned crystals of Cinnabar, the biggest one reaching a considerable size. They are on a very rich matrix of Quartz crystals. The red color is better than usual on the specimens with this kind of twin. The main crystal, in its upper right faces, is partially covered by little white Quartz crystals. Matrix has been cut on the back, as is usual with Chinese Cinnabar, due to the fragility of the Cinnabar crystals.
The specimen has been published in the book 'China', by Berthold Ottens, on page 155
