Aggregate, on matrix, of elongated Calcite crystals, between transparent and translucent and with smooth and very well defined pinacoidal terminations that have a white color zoning. They are sharp prismatic with flat terminations and very acute scalenohedral phantom growths that protrude from the pinacoidal face. Group of translucent and very bright crystals that combine the forms of a quite flattened rhombohedron and a very short prism. This combination creates an unexpected and curious shape, quite similar to a pyritohedron. The sample is from the Desmond Sacco collection, whose label we'll send to the buyer.

Curious parallel growth of packed crystals of Calcite on a first generation of yellowish crystals of the same mineral. The crystals are geometrically very well defined and have deeply hollowed. Those late crystals are very bright, colorless and between transparent and translucent.

A common species like Calcite is not usually world class, but in this case we observe a group of crystals from the August 2004 discovery in Madagascar, formed by an attractive aggregate, in which the sharpness of the crystals, their color and luster, and especially the appearance of extraordinarily unusual twins, formed by the interpenetration of two rhombohedra, are outstanding.

Floater aggregate of Calcite crystals with oriented faces forming parallel growths of extraordinarily flattened crystals (a habit that is well known as “papierspat.” The aggregate is partially coated, mainly on the back, by Chlorite, very sharp Orthoclase (adularia variety) crystals and small Quartz crystals.
