Fosminer 2005
Bilbao Exhibition Centre (Barakaldo)(BEC) |
Fosminer is the longest running show in Spain, and it is the meeting point for all the collectors who live in the north of Spain. This region was a major supplier of widely recognized classic mineral specimens: Dolomite from Eugui, Sphalerite from the Picos de Europa, Fluorite from La Collada, Berbes, the Villabona district, Emilio mine, Jaimina mine... Nowadays, while almost all these famous localities produce very few new specimens, the past activities mean that many people from the north got involved in collecting minerals and have now formed a large group of enthusiastic collectors. They always await the annual show in Bilbao as, for them, it is the biggest 'rock' show of the year. With
the BEC-Bilbao Exhibition Centre now fully operational, the show was held in Pavilion
2 of the BEC, a large, modern and functional hall.

A neat feature of the show is the number of
institutions that have stands, which add another theme of interest for visitors.
