SPANISH FLUORITE

Fluorite from the Moscona Mine

For many years under the general locality 'Villabona' many nice lemon yellow Fluorites have appeared on the market, often associated with saddle Dolomite and often quite large Calcite which has interesting crystal form and is white to yellow in color. Less frequently they were associated with blue, white and once in a while yellow Barite. Pyrite and Marcasite completed the paragenesis.
As so often happens, production has dropped over the last few years and, while the mine is still active, almost no new material has been found.

Rutile and Hematite pseudomorph after Ilmenite crystals

Very interesting novelty of 2007 Munich Show: trigonal crystals of Ilmenite transformed into an intimate intergrowth of Rutile and Hematite. Microscopic examination shows that Rutile (reddish) occurs as a delicate network of needles which are oriented parallel to the basal sections of the former Ilmenite, while Hematite (black) forms the interstices.

Apatite-(CaF) with Albite and Muscovite

MH96K7: A novelty from Munich 2007. We have had this Apatite analyzed and it is really Apatite-(CaF), as we guessed.
We offer this specimen with very sharp crystals, very esthetic, and displaying well on a white Albite matrix with minor Muscovite. Please note that the main crystal has a contact on its back side, looking incomplete for this reason.
